If you know me, you know that every site I create, has a GIV page where I share a good cause, a philanthropic endeavor, or an inspiring “pay it forward” story. This particular page, is dedicated to the charities and foundations I support in memory of my baby sister and niece.

—————–

In 2017, I lost my baby sister and my 11 year old niece as a consequence of longterm domestic violence and bullying. It was the kind of tragedy and injustice you only expect to see in movies. I have always been happy to volunteer or donate to causes in the past, but this experience pushed me to do more. I now actively sponsor and participate in making a difference through the following charities, foundations and causes.

Want to make a difference too?

Share it! Even a single share through social media has huge benefits for any website, and especially charities. Each “share” is like a vote in Google’s eyes, in addition to creating awareness in the public eye. Want to make a difference? Send a tweet out with a link to the charity you support and give yourself a pat on the back for helping to make the world a better place!

Want to make an even bigger difference?

If you have a blog, add a page entitled “GIV.” List at least one cause that means something to you, and let people know why it matters, and what they can do to help. I truly believe we can make a difference… one blog post, one share at a time. Thegbu.org

Foundations, Charities and Causes I Support

Nomore.org – NO MORE is an organization dedicated to ending domestic violence and sexual assault by increasing awareness. Aside from donating earnings made through my blogs, I also dedicate time each month to promote the organization through online media publishing and social media.  (Love Your Body Day is October 18th- Share it on Social Media!)

Now.org Foundation: Love Your Body Movement – Love Your Body Day is October 18th.

Every day, in so many ways, the beauty industry (and the media in general) tell women and girls that being admired, envied and desired based on their looks is a primary function of true womanhood. The beauty template women are expected to follow is extremely narrow, unrealistic and frequently hazardous to their health. The Love Your Body campaign challenges the message that a woman’s value is best measured through her willingness and ability to embody current beauty standards.

Project Semicolon – Project Semicolon is an organization dedicated to the prevention of suicide. Their work is based on the belief that suicide is preventable. This foundation saves lives by raising public awareness, educating communities, and providing the necessary tools and resources for suicide prevention.

Alzheimer’s Association – I became active with this organization after my father was diagnosed with Alzheimers. They hold an annual awareness walk in more than 600 communities across the nation- these are massive and inspiring events open to people of all ages, including children. The impact is incredible, and it’s truly an amazing experience. All money raised goes toward Alzheimer care, support and research.
